Signs of spring

Well, besides MLB pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training next week ...

Noticed that stores are starting to put the garden seeds out! Hooray! However, it looks like they're putting out the more expensive packages right now.

Think I'll keep checking ....

I keep my seeds for several years. I don't have any problem sprouting "old" seeds. In fact, my cabbage seedlings were marked for the 2007 season.
You MUST keep them in a completely air tight container in the freezer. If you're worried about old seeds sprouting, just plant a few extra just in case.
Note that they MUST be in an airtight container. If you store any fruit in your refrigerator, the fruit puts out ethylene gas which ruins the seeds. Other than that, it's a great way to keep seeds for a long time.

As I was tinkering around outside the other day I was thinking to myself, "Time to get some seeds!" I know spring is coming because on Sunday I took the kids outside to play for an hour or so, and I must have come in with 10 new mosquito bites! They are out on the prowl!
