Bye, bye Mr. Pumpkin

We performed the annual dispatching of the pumpkins the other night.

I've never dispatched a pie pumpkin, but I am always amazed at the amount of water that has to be drained out of our porch pumpkins. I think the draining took longer than the cooking, LOL!

We boiled 1 1/2 pumpkins and roasted the other half. The tally: 9 1/4 cups of puree, and 10 cups of roasted.

Now, to find room in the freezer!

I've never cut up our pumpkins before, but I'm thinking about it this year. Canned pumpkin is really expensive. I'm impressed that you yielded so much out of just 1 1/2 pumpkins!

It's really not all that hard ... just a bit time consuming. Seems like our pumpkins need to be roasted a bit longer than the instructions call for.
